Highway 6 was closed in both directions in Lumby for nearly four hours after a logging truck spilled its load Monday afternoon.
The truck rolled onto its side near the intersection of Hwy. 6 and Shuswap Avenue shortly after 2 p.m. Monday, July 20.
DriveBC reported after 3:30 p.m. that an assessment was in progress.
By 5:40 p.m., the provincial agency reported the road was reopened, but motorists should take their time and expect delays due to congestion.
Vernon North Okanagan RCMP said the logging trailer overturned “as it attempted to execute a sharp corner causing a component on the truck to snap resulting in the trailer to over turn and lose some of its logs.”
The Commercial Vehicle Safety and Enforcement unit attended the scene and conducted its own investigation.
No charges will be issued to the driver of the company.
OPEN – #BCHwy6 – Vehicle incident at Shuswap Ave in #LumbyBC is clear. Please drive with care and expect delays due to congestion.
