Progress is being made in Lumby.
Crews are working Monday to reinforce sandbag berms put in place during extensive flooding Saturday and Sunday.
“Right now the water is receding ,” said Mayor Kevin Acton.
However, there are concerns about the weather forecast for the rest of the week.
“We could be looking at a bigger flood Thursday and Friday,” said Acton.
Environment Canada is calling for 25 and sun Thursday and 16 and rain Friday.
Tthe mandatory evacuation orders for the following properties are still in effect:
1879 Faulkner Avenue (Units 1 – 10)
2156 Bessette Street (Units 1 – 12)
1886 Shuswap Avenue, and
1746 Vernon Street
“Those homes are still not safe to enter,” said Acton.
All evacuation alerts issued by the municipality also remain in place.
