Lumby raises funds

With $100,000 from Kraft Hockeyville, the community is now looking to raise additional money for upgrades to Pat Duke Memorial Arena

Lumby hopes to leverage its Kraft Hockeyville status.

With $100,000 won from the national competition, the community is now looking to raise additional money for upgrades to Pat Duke Memorial Arena.

“Word has it that Terrace raised an additional $400,000 when it won Kraft Hockeyville, so it makes sense for Lumby to continue to raise funds and have some fun while we are all still in the Hockeyville mood,” said Angie Clowry, organizer.

As part of the effort there will be a community barn dance Saturday, April 23 at the arena.

“We haven’t had a large dance in the area in a few years, so when a few hundred of us get together, it is always a blast and a great way to enjoy ourselves,” said Clowry.

The free family dance is from 4 to 6:30 p.m. and the adult dance is from 9 p.m. to 2 a.m.

Tickets for the adult dance are $20 and they are available at Take Two, Jitterbeans Coffee House or Tutor Tech in Lumby.

In Vernon, they can be purchased at Enlightened Hair and Tanning and Simply Delicious (tickets are $30 the day of the event).

Entertainment will be provided by the Young’Uns and DJ Steve Nagy.
