A collision involving a tractor unit and a tandem dump truck occurred Tuesday morning (Feb. 23) on Highway 1 in Abbotsford.
The crash affected eastbound traffic just past the Peardonville Road overpass. Only one lane was moving for several hours, and traffic was backed up to Bradner Road. Westbound traffic was also backed up, starting at around Clearbrook Road.
The two vehicles ended up on the right shoulder of the highway. Abbotsford Police, Fraser Valley Traffic Services (FVTS) and Emergency Services all responded.
Cpl. Mike Halskov, media officer with BC RCMP Traffic Services, said that the tractor unit was heading west when it crossed the centre median and crashed into the eastbound dump truck, which was in the slow lane.
He said only minor injuries resulted, and FVTS now has conduct of the investigation, “the cause of which may be criminal in nature.”
Anyone with information about the collision or with dash-cam video is asked to contact FVTS in Chilliwack at 604-702-4039.

Outside my office. Hope everyone is ok. @ctvvancouver @globalbc @news1130radio @drivebctraffic My theory is thatTandem dump truck got a flat as he was in the fast lane and his rear trailer swung out and hit the empty Bobtailing semi into the tree.
