Prepare yourself for winter driving conditions if you’re travelling over the Malahat today.
Drive BC is reporting heavy snowfall on Highway 1 at the Malahat summit, and traffic is already backed up in both directions for roughly 8 km at the Shawnigan Lake turnoff — expect delays of up to an hour.
There are reports of an accident involving two semi trucks and emergency vehicles are on scene.
Mainroad Contracting says plowing and sanding are in progress and reminds drivers to slow down and drive with extra caution near road crews.
