A Port Hardy local was stabbed during what police confirm was a robbery. Late evening last Friday, Oct. 19, the Port Hardy RCMP received a complaint from a 32-year-old male who reported a robbery.
In the police statement, it stated the victim sustained a puncture wound to the torso, above his left hip. Staff Sgt. Wes Olsen confirmed in a police report that the injury was, in fact, consistent with a knife puncture.
The victim was able to identify the two males involved and provided names of both suspects. A witness on scene was able to corroborate the victim’s story and verified the suspects’ identities.
The victim was then transported immediately to Port Hardy Hospital. The man is now in Campbell River, where medical professionals will determine the severity of his injuries.
The man sustained non-life threatening injuries.
The police are recommending charges against two males involved in the incident, one of which was arrested for two counts of breaching a court order, a single charge of robbery and assault causing bodily harm. The suspect was released on a recognizance, Olsen said, and was given conditions to follow.
The second male, 33, is facing a robbery charge and also assault causing bodily harm. The suspect fled the scene and has yet to be located by police. The male suspect is well known to the police and has an outstanding warrant for his arrest.
The two suspects in question robbed the victim of liquor near 6855 Market St., Port Hardy.
