Male was not quite so suspicious

Words of wisdom to local walkers: don’t be cutting through the schoolyard — especially when carrying tools.

Ladysmith Primary School went into lockdown last week when a man did exactly that.

According to Ladysmith RCMP, at about 2:30 p.m., April 16, they received a report from the school about a suspicious male walking through the field.

“Several children thought the male was carrying a knife,” Const. Tim Wang said in media release.

“The school initiated a lockdown of the facility until it was deemed safe for the students to be dismissed. Fortunately a teacher confirmed it was a tool, not a knife the male was holding.

“The RCMP would like to remind the public that they are prohibited to trespass (cut through) any school’s property while school is in session.
