Man arrested after violent outburst on Burnaby bus

Mounties arrested a man under the Mental Health Act

A man has been arrested following an assault on a bus driver in Burnaby earlier this week.

The incident happened on the #123 bus on Tuesday afternoon. Video taken by a passenger shows a man violently kicking the front door of the bus before turning and spitting on the driver.

The man was arrested under the Mental Health Act on Thursday after officers recognized him from earlier reports of the prior incident.

No charges have been laid yet, according to Sgt. Clint Hampton with the Metro Vancouver Transit Police.

Given the medical circumstances, no further information is expected.
