A Calgary man was caught carrying marijuana near Cranbrook and arrested last weekend.

On Saturday, October 7 two members of the Cranbrook RCMP were conducting speed enforcement on Highway 3/93 just north of Cranbrook when they pulled a vehicle over travelling in excess of 130 kilometres an hour.

A 29-year-old male was the only occupant in the vehicle and a search of the vehicle located more than four kilograms of packaged  marijuana with an estimated street value of $16,000.

The driver of the car, a resident of Calgary, was arrested and later released pending a court appearance in Cranbrook Provincial Court on charges of Possession of a Controlled Substance for the Purposes of Trafficking.
