A man has been charged with the theft and possession of stolen property after a stolen snowmobile was brought to a local shop for servicing, RCMP say.
On Monday, Jan. 30, Revelstoke RCMP received a report that a yellow 2015 Ski-Doo Summit snowmobile was stolen out of the back of a pick up truck at Revelstoke Mountain Resort.
Police investigated the theft using video surveillance from the scene but it wasn’t until this Tuesday, March 14, that they got a break.
That day, they got information that a snowmobile matching the description of the one that was stolen was brought into a local business for service.
The RCMP sprung into action and located the suspect’s truck and trailer and recovered the stolen snowmobile. They charged a man with theft and then, while searching his rural property, found a second stolen snowmobile, leading to an additional charge of possession of stolen property.
“Revelstoke RCMP would like to thank the community for their support and the tips that were received throughout the investigation, resulting in the successful recovery of the stolen property,” wrote Cpl. Mike Esson in a news release.
