The 23-year-old man charged with a sexual assault that took place in March appeared in Victoria Provincial Court on Monday morning.
Jesse Doig, dressed in a red jumpsuit with a flush-red face to match, sat in the defendant’s box as the court heard details of the crime he is charged with. Members of his family were present in the court, taking up most of the first two rows of seating.
On March 17, at around 2 a.m., a man entered an unlocked home in the 3900 block of Wolf Street and sexually assaulted a 22-year-old woman who was visiting friends from the University of Victoria.
Doig, who was arrested and charged with the crime on May 7, has remained in custody since.
