A man faces charges of assaulting an officer after a Dec. 20 incident in Oak Bay.
Police were called to the 1700 block of Monterey Ave. where they say an an intoxicated man assaulted two police officers. After the physical altercation, the man was charged with two counts of Assaulting a Police Officer and Causing a Disturbance.

On Dec. 19, Oak Bay Police responded to a computer theft at the University of Victoria. Upon returning from the washroom, a student noticed someone going through his backpack. The suspect stole the students’ Microsoft Surface laptop and keyboard case.

Impaired drivers stopped
Police set up a roadblock along the 3100 block of Foul Bay Rd., adjacent to Camosun College on Dec. 20. Police detected alcohol on a driver’s breath, and eventually used an approved screening device which displayed a ‘warn’. A second screening returned the same result, and police seized the driver’s licence for three days.
Two more drivers were stopped Dec. 22. At a check-stop at the intersection of Cadboro Bay and Eastdowne roads. Police detected liquor from a drivers’ breath. After an ASD issued a ‘warn’ reading, the drivers’ vehicle was impounded for three days, and their licence seized for three days. The same day, at an undisclosed location, police noticed an odour of fresh marijuana emanating from a vehicle. The driver failed a standard Field Sobriety Test. His vehicle was towed and he was issued a 24-hour driving prohibition.
