Police seek help identifying suspects in May 6 attack

One man is in hospital after being “accosted by possibly four to five other males” in South Surrey last weekend.

RCMP announced in a news release Thursday afternoon that public assistance is sought in identifying suspects involved in the “serious assault.”

Early last Saturday, at approximately 1:25 a.m., officers were called to the 3100-block of King George Boulevard after reports of a fight at a pub that eventually spilled out on the street.

According to the news release, one man was left unconscious and suffering from a serious, non-life-threatening head injury.

The victim is still in hospital, the release notes.

The Surrey RCMP’s General Investigation Unit is leading the investigation.

One suspect, who police say was known to the victim, was arrested and released with a promise to appear in court. No charges have been laid.

Several witnesses spoke to police at the time, and surveillance video from the area was also reviewed, RCMP said. However, officers believe there are still more witnesses who may be able to assist in identify other suspects.

“If you saw the fight or the suspects, or if you know who the identity of any of the suspects, police would like to speak to you,” said Cpl. Scotty Schumann.

“What you saw, no matter how insignificant you think the detail is, may help police identify the outstanding suspects.”
