A man is in hospital after suffering injuries from a stabbing in downtown Nanaimo early Saturday morning.
First responders were on scene at the 100 block of Skinner Street, near Old City Station Pub, at around 12:15 a.m. July 27 after a man was stabbed, said Const. Gary O’Brien, Nanaimo RCMP spokesman.
According to an RCMP press release, the 35-year-old victim received emergency first aid at the scene before being taken to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
“Investigators were able to determine after reviewing video surveillance and from speaking with witnesses that an altercation broke out on the street in front of the nightclub, and the male victim appeared to have received his injuries during this melee,” the release noted. “Several persons believed to have been involved in the melee have been identified and are currently in police custody.”
