A man has pleaded guilty in relation to a 2015 head-on crash in Abbotsford that seriously injured a 21-year-old woman.
Balraj Cheema, 55, previously pleaded guilty in Abbotsford provincial court to a charge of causing an accident resulting in bodily harm.
Two other charges – impaired driving and dangerous driving causing bodily harm – are expected to be stayed at sentencing.
Cheema’s sentencing hearing is set for Sept. 11 in Abbotsford.
The collision took place at about 11:20 p.m. on Sept. 13, 2015 on Old Yale Road near St. Moritz Way.
The driver of the other vehicle, Jocelyn Visser, was trapped in her vehicle – a Dodge sedan – and had to be extricated by emergency crews. She was airlifted to hospital in serious condition.
Cheema, who was driving a Dodge pickup truck, sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to hospital by ground ambulance.
Charges against him were laid in March 2016.
At the time of the collision, Visser was on her way home from her job at the Save-On-Foods on Whatcom Road.
