A man who rammed a police car in Abbotsford and was then arrested in Chilliwack has been sentenced to time served, an 18-month driving ban and 18 months’ probation.
Travis Bragg, 26, was recently sentenced in Chilliwack provincial court after pleading guilty to charges of assaulting a peace officer with a weapon and dangerous operation of a motor vehicle in January 2020 in Abbotsford.
Two other charges – fleeing a peace officer and possession of stolen property – were stayed at sentencing.
The Abbotsford Police Department indicated in February 2020 that Bragg was wanted for an incident that had occurred on Jan. 23. On that day, police were patrolling Hillcrest Avenue in Abbotsford when they recognized a Ford F-150 parked in a backyard.
It was believed that the truck had been involved in a theft earlier that day. Officers saw the vehicle drive away from the property, but when they attempted to pull the driver over, he revved the engine, rammed an oncoming police car and sped away.

Bragg was then arrested in a dramatic takedown in Chilliwack on March 2, 2020, when he was tracked down at an apartment building in the 9200 block of Mary Street.
While officers were stationed outside the building, Bragg allegedly fled from one balcony and broke into a second unit, police said.
He was then tracked to a third-floor balcony, where a police dog was deployed. Bragg allegedly assaulted the dog, and there was an altercation between him and the arresting officers, resulting in shots being fired from a “less lethal” shotgun.
Bragg, who had been struck by the beanbag rounds, was arrested on a first-floor balcony after reportedly jumping from the third floor.
He suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to hospital for treatment.
Bragg was charged with 10 offences related to the Chilliwack arrest, including break-and-enter, assault, uttering threats, resisting arrest and harming a law enforcement animal. Those charges are still making their way through the courts.
Bragg has been in custody since his March 2020 arrest.
