Emergency officials responded to a stabbing at a small homeless camp on Gladys Avenue Wednesday evening.
Abbotsford Police Department was called to the 33900 block of Gladys Avenue by paramedics at around 6:45 p.m. after two people were seen in an altercation, spokesperson Sgt. Judy Bird said.
In the fight, a man was stabbed and is currently in hospital receiving treatment for serious but non-life-threatening injuries, Bird said.
At least six police vehicles were seen by an Abbotsford News photographer on scene, and a dog was also seen sniffing around a tent that was located across the street from the Mennonite Central Committee, a common place to find homeless camps.
A suspect fled the scene and police are currently investigating. Bird said the APD’s major crime unit has taken control of the investigation.
