A man was struck by a vehicle near his residence on Corcan Road Wednesday evening (June 27).
Oceanside RCMP Cpl. Jesse Foreman said a 58-year-old man from the Corcan Road area was struck by a vehicle driven by a 42-year-old Parksville woman.
The call came in at 6:20 p.m. on June 27, said Foreman, adding that someone close to the family of one of the people involved was nearby when the incident happened and called the police.
“It was a domestic-type relationship, so the people were well known to each other,” Foreman said.
Foreman said the driver came to the Oceanside detachment to tell the RCMP what happened afterward.
“We’re investigating to find out what actually transpired out there. There are some mixed reports, so we’re trying to figure that out,” he said.
The woman, Foreman said, was taken into custody.
Foreman said the man was transported to Nanaimo with broken ribs, a broken collarbone and some cuts and scrapes.
“It was originally thought that apparently his injuries were a lot worse and there was consideration for an air ambulance, but once he was assessed it wasn’t anything life threatening so he was able to be transported by regular ambulance,” said Foreman.
