Terrace RCMP are investigating a stabbing near the cabins on Spruce Trail at Lakelse Lake Provincial Park, one of more than 178 calls officers responded to over the May long weekend.
Around 12:52 a.m. on May 19, police received the weapons call at the park and found a young adult male with numerous stab wounds to his upper body. He was transported to hospital where he remains in serious but stable condition.
A teenage male was arrested for aggravated assault and remains in custody. Police will not provide any more details around the incident as it is still under investigation.
Terrace RCMP had additional officers patrolling recreational sites and Furlong Bay this weekend, with one person receiving a 30-day vehicle impound and 90-day driving prohibition for impaired driving near the sites, no other major issues were reported.

At Furlong Bay however, many underage youth were found drinking and perceived to be unsupervised.
“We had middle and high school students out at all hours of the night intoxicated by alcohol,” said Staff Sergeant Michael Robinson in a press release. “While our job as police officers is to enforce the law, adults play a pivotal role in making sure their kids follow those laws, particularly around alcohol.”
Liquor laws and BC Parks rules exist for a reason, added Stf. Sgt. Robinson, and allowing youth to break those laws sets them up for further bad decision making, including breaking other laws and being arrested, or being seriously injured or hurting someone else.
Providing alcohol to anyone under the age of 19 can result in liquor offences and fines up to $575 under the Liquor Control and Licensing Act.
