A Valemount, B.C. man who was wanted for parole violation and parental abduction is in custody after he was spotted by an off-duty Abbotsford Police officer early Wednesday morning.
A press release from the Abbotsford Police Department (APD) said the 51-year-old man left his residence Tuesday afternoon with his eight-year-old son in a silver mini van.
An APD officer was heading home at 4 a.m. Wednesday after her shift, spotted the van and recognized the licence plate from an earlier briefing.
She quickly contacted police in that community and kept sight of the vehicle until officers arrived.
Coquitlam RCMP officers stopped the van and arrested two occupants without incident. The child was unharmed, police said.
