Ridge Meadows RCMP are looking for a man who forced a woman to touch him sexually early Friday in Maple Ridge.
The man approached the woman between 1 a.m. and 1:20 a.m. near 216th Street and Lougheed Highway.
Police allege he exposed himself and then forced the woman into touching him sexually. The woman immediately ran away and sought help while the man walked away.
He was last seen in the 21500 block of Cherrington Avenue.
“We are working diligently on trying to identify who this suspect may be, and our Serious Crimes Unit is fully engaged,” Insp. David Fleugel said.
“This incident occurred in the early morning hours when there are very few people out, which appears something the suspect took advantage of. To that end investigators are looking for any area video surveillance to see if a suspect can be identified that way. Police want the public, in particular our female citizens, to be aware of this incident. Be alert to your surroundings when outside, especially at night.”
The suspect is described as a male approximately 6 feet tall, in his 20s, with a slim to medium build.
He was wearing a blue and grey stripped hooded sweatshirt (resembling a Mexican poncho) with a front pouch, dark coloured pants, and running shoes.
