Man wounded during Mission home invasion

A Mission man has been seriously injured during a violent home invasion late Tuesday night in the 8500-block of Bannister Drive.

According to RCMP Sgt. Miriam Dickson, it was just before midnight when two men dressed in black, wearing masks, gloves and carrying pepper spray, entered the family dwelling through a rear sliding door.

The 43-year-old father of two began struggling with the assailants while the mother, 38, called police.

The father was struck repeatedly with an unidentified object and had to be transported to Mission Memorial Hospital with serious, but non-life threatening head injuries and large bruise to the rest of his body.

Dickson said the investigation is in its early stages and the motive is still unclear, but urged anyone with information to contact the Mission RCMP at 604-826-7161.

Tipsters can remain anonymous by calling Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477. A cash reward of up to $2,000 will be paid for information which leads to an arrest or charge.
