A Maple Ridge man is facing a charge in connection with an incident in Vancouver’s Stanley Park on Tuesday, Aug. 6.
Vancouver police Sgt. Jason Robillard said that police got a call on B.C. Day, just after 3 p.m., about a goose that had just been hit with a stick near Lost Lagoon at the entrance to the park.
The goose died as a result.
“We do take this type of call seriously,” said Robillard.
“A lot of people love these swans and geese down at Stanley Park.”
Timothy Richard Louis Rowley, 34, is facing a charge of causing unnecessary pain or suffering to an animal, according to Court Services Online.
He next appears in Vancouver provincial court on Aug. 20.
