School District No. 91’s Board of Education is pleased to announce that, following a national search, Mr. Eugene Marks has been selected as the incoming Superintendent of Schools and Chief Executive Officer of School District 91.
Mr. Marks will replace Mrs. Charlene Seguin who will be retiring after serving as Superintendent for the past six years.
Although Mr. Marks has most recently served as the Assistant Superintendent of Schools, he has been a teacher, counsellor, vice-principal, principal and Director of Instruction in Nechako Lakes School District since 1989.
During his time in education leadership, Mr. Marks has come to be respected locally and provincially as a collaborator who connects schools with community opportunities and inspires system improvement.
Mr. Marks models his strong belief that education is the foundation of building strong communities.
Board Chair Mr. Steve Davis said, “The board is very excited to have Mr Marks as its next Superintendent. He was overwhelmingly the best candidate we saw and clearly embodies the commitment to teamwork that is so important to SD 91.
“We are looking forward to having Mr Marks work with the Board to realize the elements of our strategic plan. The Board looks forward to their continuing work with Mr. Marks in his current role and having him assume his new leadership duties in August.”
Mr. Marks has a Master of Education (Educational Leadership) degree from the University of Calgary and a Bachelor of Education from the University of British Columbia.
