The Hawaii Mars waterbomber is in the water and if all goes well, will take flight on Wednesday, July 13 (2016) for its first flight of the year.
Crews from Coulson Flying tankers spent more than an hour manoeuvering the waterbomber down a concrete ramp and into Sproat Lake on Tuesday afternoon (July 12, 2016). Kermit Weeks, an aerobatic pilot and owner of Fantasy of Flight in Polk City, Florida, filmed the entire process from a variety of angles.
The Philippine Mars, painted in a vintage blue US Navy scheme, was launched Monday morning. It will likely be brought back on land this week, a Coulson spokesperson said.
Crews will prepare the Hawaii Mars to fly on Wednesday in preparation for a trip to EAA AirVentures airshow in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, July 25–31.
