The wheels on the bus go round and round; the rules on the bus are that masks are required.
RDN Transit, in alignment with other transit authorities, made masks mandatory on buses as of this week.
According to a press release from the Regional District of Nanaimo, the policy is being implemented “as an educational step without enforcement” and bus drivers “will assume if someone is not wearing a face covering, the person meets the exclusion criteria.” Children under five years old or people with medical conditions or disabilities that inhibit their ability to wear a mask are excluded from the policy.
“We strongly encourage our RDN Transit riders to wear a face covering while traveling, as community safety is more important than ever,” said Ian Thorpe, RDN board chairman, in the release. “Please continue to be kind to one another as we are all doing our best. Thank you in advance for doing your part.”
