Here is some yard sale etiquette.
- Have it on Friday or Saturday, although Saturday is better because more people are off work.
- Yard salers are out and about by 8 a.m. They will not usually come back after 10 a.m.
- Make your signs large enough to read from a car driving down a road.
- If your items are dirty, broken or incomplete, they will not sell.
- Put books so you can read the titles, not piled in a box, this goes for movies also.
- Have your items on a table or bench, not on the ground or on a tarp.
- Have enough room to get around the tables and have your items at yard sale prices – nobody cares what you originally paid for them.
- Clothing should not be hung up, not heaped in piles or in boxes.
- Advertise a week in advance, not two or more.
- Pick up signs after the sale; don’t leave them to the wind and weather.
