Salmon Arm Mayor Marty Bootsma won’t be running for mayor in the November municipal election, but he hasn’t ruled out trying for an elected seat on council.

“I’m leaving my options open,” he told the Observer, noting it’s not unusual in B.C.  for former mayors to run for councillor.

“It’s certainly not that rare.”

Asked if he’d like a break from the responsibilities of mayor, he said yes.

“I’d like to have a little more time to myself, but I’m still interested.”
