Meeting planned to learn about logging plans

Proposal put forward to log 49.5 hectares of Crown Land around Pattison Creek

A meeting is being organized by the Hatzic Prairie, Durieu, McConnell Creek Ratepayers Association to discuss a proposal to log 49.5 hectares of Crown land on the north side of Pattison Creek.

Everyone in the Hatzic Valley area is encouraged to attend because Pattison Creek affects the entire area, said HPDMCRA president Sharie Conroy.

Conroy says representatives from the logging company will be at the meeting to discuss the plans listen to residents’ concerns. Some concerns, according to Conroy who has lived in the area for 41 years, relate to the stability of the creek’s banks and flooding.

The meeting will take place at 7:30 p.m. on March 20 at McConnell Creek Hall, 35483 Hartley Rd.
