Members for Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee

The City of Penticton is seeking applicants to sit on the newly established Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee for a term ending Dec. 31, 2019.

According to a release from the city, the committee is mandated to make recommendations on matters such as park uses and protection, community engagement, proposed projects, and more.

The city is hoping to appoint 13 members to the committee. They would like one committee member to be from School District 67.

No formal experience is required though preference will be given based on applicants’ knowledge or experience in community parks and recreation. Key interests can include appreciation of nature, indoor or outdoor recreation, organized sports, trails, health and fitness, water-based activities, or sports tourism and special events.

Interested residents are asked to submit an application form and resume to the City of Penticton, Attention: Dana Schmidt, Corporate Officer. The deadline for applications is Oct. 31, 2018.

It is anticipated that the new city council will review the applications at their second council meeting on Nov. 20.
