Police need your help to identify these men. RCMP allege they tried to break into a cabin at Pitt Lake.

Police need the public’s help to identity a group of men who tried to break into a cabin at Pitt Lake in June.

The cabin is only accessible by boat. Police allege the men badly damaged the exterior of the cabin and were captured on camera. Investigators have released two photographs of the group in hope they will generate tips.

Copper theft

A Maple Ridge man was arrested early Monday after police found him with a reel of stolen wire.

The 22-year-old was stopped around 6:15 a.m. after police were called about a break-in at a gravel pit office, located in the 13600 block of 256 Street.

Police said the man was found near the site with copper wire; however, a computer is still missing from the office.

 

Drunk driver

A 22-year-old Port Coquitlam woman, who drove her car into a ditch on Sunday afternoon, has been charged with drinking and driving.

The crash occurred in the 18000 block of Ford Road in Pitt Meadows. A 24-year-old woman who was a passenger in the car had to be taken to hospital for further examination. Police allege the driver failed two breathalyzer tests.

As a result, she lost her driving privileges for three months and her car was impounded for a month.

 

Pot bust

Police found 146 marijuana plants in a Maple Ridge home after being called to the house Saturday on an unrelated matter.

After obtaining a search warrant for the property on 98th Avenue, officers seized the plants and arrested the 43-year-old home owner.

Police are recommending charges of production of a controlled substance.

The man has been released from custody on a promise to appear in court.

 

Dangerous driver

A senior who hit two cars in the parking lot of a Maple Ridge mall was prohibited from being behind the wheel.

Ridge Meadows RCMP allege the 87-year-old Maple Ridge man crashed into the vehicles in the parking lot of Valley Fair Mall just before 5 p.m. on Saturday.

After he hit the cars, he drove to the other side of the parking lot where he hit a sign post and a tree.

Police are recommending charges of dangerous driving and driving while prohibited.

His car has been impounded. The man was released from custody on a promise to appear in court.

 

Lost voice box

The police need the public’s help to find an artificial larynx or speaking device that was lost in Maple Ridge on Saturday.

The owner found the device missing after using a bank machine in the 7Eleven store on Lougheed Highway at Laity Street around 9 a.m.
