The Village of Midway cancelled its regularly scheduled council meeting Monday, Sept. 21, after three councillors notified City Hall they were unable to attend.
Monday’s meeting was the first to be scrapped since council was elected in Midway’s last municipal election nearly two years ago, according to mayor Martin Fromme.
Council meetings can’t go ahead without a sitting quorum of three councillors.

“It’s a very unusual thing to happen,” Fromme told the Times Thursday, Sept. 24.
Councillors Darrin Metcalf, Gary Schierbeck and Richard Dunsdon gave notice well ahead of time.
“They’re very thoughtful that way,” Fromme said.
There were no pressing matters on last week’s agenda, according to Fromme.
Council will visit agenda items at their next meeting Monday, Oct. 5.
