The Hope Garden Club is pleased to announce Brian Minter will be the featured speaker at their upcoming meeting.
A renowned gardener and plant guru, Minter is the president and general manager of Minter Country Garden, and is also a well-known radio host on CBC. As well as having products for sale, Minter will be speaking about new plant varieties and current gardening trends, especially as they apply to Hope.
Held on March 6, at 7 p.m., at the Golden Agers Hall (560 Douglas Street), the meeting will be free to Club members, but admission for the public is based on donation.
The Hope Garden Club meets the first Wednesday of every month. The group has been meeting since 1994, with some of the original members and many new ones. Membership is $15 per calendar year or $2.00 drop in fee. During the year they have informative speakers, summer garden tours, craft opportunities, plant sharing and semi-annual socials.
This year, their 14th Annual Plant Sale will be held on Saturday, May 4, from 9:00 to 11:30 a.m. at the Hope Curling Rink. Perennials and annuals, fruit and veggies, shrubs and tubers, garden art and house plants will be sold, and the proceeds support projects such as a bursary for a student at Hope Secondary school, speakers for the garden club, and contributions to other related organizations such as the Hope Community Garden and Hope Communities in Bloom.
