The Mirror Image Room is in its new home and ready to receive clients.
After the closure (Read Cancer Society closes office leaving resource without a home in Penticton) of the Canadian Cancer Office in Penticton, the Mirror Image Room, which provides wigs and headwear for cancer patients experiencing hair loss due to chemotherapy, has been relocated to 3373 Skaha Lake Road in the office of Dr. James Cooper, Chiropractor.
“We are very grateful to Dr. Cooper for providing us with a great space where clients will be able to access this needed service during a challenging time in their diagnosis. Wigs are provided free of charge as other pieces of headwear such as ‘buffs’ and turbans sewn by volunteer Brenda Thompson. Nancy Fletcher provides cutting and styling services, free of charge, at the Penticton School of Hair,” said Mirror Image Room coordinator, Evelyn Markin. “The story by Mark Brett of the Western News helped immensely in helping us secure a new home. It was much appreciated.
“We are very pleased to have a large, comfortable space which is accessible to those with mobility issues,” Markin continued. “We are also very grateful for the support from the community and from groups such as the Survivorship Ladies as we rely on donations to provide this service.”
