These past few months have been a busy time for the Arrow Lakes’ Mirror Theatre.
Director Anji Jones is excited to share the fruits of the cast’s labour this coming weekend. True Love – the Story of the Princess Bride will be on at the Bonnington Arts Centre on May 13 at 7 p.m., May 14 at 7p.m., and on May 15 for a matinee at 2 p.m. Doors will open for general seating half an hour before each show and admission is by donation.
Most of those who attended the casting call some time ago, reported in an earlier edition of Arrow Lakes News, found themselves with suitable roles in the performances to be held this weekend. A few others joined along the way. Regular rehearsals have been held for a few months now at the theatre space in the basement of the United Church, and great progress has been noted for everyone involved.
Jones’ self-reported knack for matching the right people with the right part was clearly demonstrated in the cast’s dynamics. A very positive and supportive tone was obvious throughout, with the cast sharing in the laughter at every rehearsal.
A bit of excitement was had, what with the cast losing then gaining, then again losing two separate Vizzinis, a capital role in this performance, but suitable replacements are on hand and you won’t be disappointed.
Of course, many challenges lie ahead for the characters in their plight : there is live sword-fighting, a poisoning, a storming of the castle, some witty banter, and — will they save the Princess?
Jones, along with the entire Mirror Theatre Ensemble is excited for this week’s dress rehearsals and final arrangements before curtain-time this weekend.
Come one, come all, prepare to revel in this wonderful love story, which the talented cast will bring to light before your eyes, in Nakusp’s Premier Arts Centre — the Bonnington.
