Mission Candlelight Parade Friday night

The annual evening event draws thousands of people to the downtown core

Put on your winter coat, boots and mitts for the 7:30 p.m. start of the 28th Mission Candlelight Parade, one of the largest nighttime parades in B.C.

This year over 75 entries from all over the region will be strutting to holiday tunes down Mission’s First Avenue between Horne Street and the Cedar Connector.

This year park and ride from the Mission Raceway to the Mission Hills Shopping Centre. The service is by donation to Mission’s three dry grads. Shuttles will run between 6 and 7:30 p.m. and 9:30 to 10:30 p.m.

Come early to get a great spot for the lighting of the Mission Christmas Tree, sponsored by Country 107.1FM. This year’s Parade Grand Marshall, Rudolph of Operation Red Nose, will ride in Mission’s heritage fire truck, the use of which has been donated by Mission Fire/Rescue, to start off the parade and light the 50-foot tree.

Remember to bring a non-perishable donation for the Christmas Bureau. Volunteers will be collecting items up and down the parade route.

Lougheed Highway closes at 6 p.m. along the parade route so come early, grab some dinner and dress warmly.
