The Mission RCMP were out in full force last week (March 17-23) as part of National Impaired Driving Prevention Week.
The focus of enforcement was impaired driving but police say many other infractions were dealt with as well.
“We’ve been really focusing on these types of traffic enforcement initiatives based on feedback from the community,” said Mission RCMP Corp. Nathan Berze.
“We do hear the concerns of community members and are more than happy to put the extra resources and focus toward road safety.”
Berze reports that extra resources were put on the road over the weekend and almost 30 drivers were faced with charges of impaired driving, speeding and offences under the Cannabis Act amongst others.
These charges were above and beyond the normal enforcement activities that happen on a given weekend.
The Mission RCMP want to let the community know that traffic enforcement initiatives like this will be ongoing and are encouraging citizens to support the cause by committing to safe driving habits.
