The Moderna COVID-19 vaccine is expected to arrive in the Elk Valley this week according to the Elk Valley Hospital Physicians.

In a release, local doctors said that the availability of the vaccine would depend on vulnerability.

“Priority initially will be given to individuals who live or work in Long Term Care and Assisted Living facilities,” they said.

“Stay tuned for information regarding ongoing vaccine roll-outs. There will be opportunity for everybody who wants the vaccine to receive it in the upcoming months.”

The local physicians again reminded anyone that develops COVID-19 symptoms to get tested, seek medical attention and self-isolate until you receive advice.

“Respiratory symptoms include cough, shortness of breath, sore throat, or runny nose. Other symptoms may be fever, muscle aches, headache, and fatigue. “
