Two people were injured in a two-vehicle head-on crash on the Trans-Canada Highway in Tappen Monday afternoon.
The highway was closed at about 3:30 p.m. for approximately two hours while emergency personnel responded to the collision near the Trickle Inn.
Salmon Arm RCMP Staff Sgt. Scott West reports that a westbound grey passenger vehicle lost control on the snow-covered highway, crossed into the eastbound lane where it collided with a commercial vehicle.
“A head-on collision occurred which left both vehicles demolished and both drivers injured. The male driver of the van was also trapped in his vehicle,” West stated, noting the man had to be cut from his vehicle by emergency crews.
“Both drivers are residents of the Salmon Arm area and the sole occupants of their respective vehicles. They were both transported to Shuswap Lake Hospital suffering from, what was believed at the time, non-life threatening but potentially serious injuries,” West reported.
No charges have been laid.
