Some 500 people attended the Salvation Army’s annual Christmas community luncheon on Thursday afternoon.
Guests at the event, held at the Abbotsford Banquet Hall on Laurel Street, included individuals who are homeless and those who can’t afford basic necessities such as food.
They enjoyed hot chocolate and entertainment by the Salvation Army’s Cascade Community Brass Band upon arrival, followed by a turkey feast with all the fixings.
Musicians Owen Vint and Noah Breitkreuz entertained during lunch.
Mayor Henry Braun and his wife Velma and Coun. Ross Siemens were among the dignitaries who served the lunch alongside the Salvation Army staff and volunteers.
Many community partners donated food for the meal as well as donations for the single hampers each attendee took home from the event.
