2. Abbotsford teen reported missing, Sept. 17 – Police asked for the public’s help in tracking down Destiny Gettings, 14, who was later found safe in Surrey.

Four teen boys arrested during lockdown at Robert Bateman Secondary, Dec. 3 – Several local schools were placed under lockdown after police received reports that four teen boys, including one possibly with a gun, had gone to the home of another young man and tried to goad him into fighting. The boys were arrested at Robert Bateman secondary and a fake gun was found inside the school two days later.
4. Air ambulance lands in Walmart parking lot for medical emergency, Sept. 18 – An air ambulance was called to the Walmart parking lot on Vedder Way for a medical emergency. It was soon revealed that 18-year-old Alex Gervais, who had been in the car of the Ministry of Children and Family Development, had plunged to his death from the Super 8 hotel behind Walmart. The incident led to a government review, still underway, of the use of hotels to house children in government care.
5. Parents sentenced in Abbotsford for sexually assaulting teenage daughter, Aug. 26 – A couple who had sexually assaulted their teen daughter, saying they were trying to educate her about sex, were sentenced to jail time. The man received six years, and his wife was given four years and nine months.
6. Murder investigation underway in Abbotsford, Feb. 20 – A 34-year-old man, soon identified as Trevor Johnson, was fatally stabbed during a fight at the Petro-Canada gas station at the corner of Townline and Maclure roads.
7. Virginia man charged after hotel stay with 13-year-old girl in Abbotsford, Sept. 9 – Joshua Michael Napoli, 33, of Newport News, Virginia was charged with sexual offences after meeting up with a teen girl, whom he met over social media, and taking her overnight to a local hotel room.
8. Abbotsford man killed after being struck by car has been identified, May 1 – Pedestrian Dakota Leslie, 19, died in hospital a few hours after being struck by a car at McCallum and Marshall roads.
9. Former Abbotsford principal suspended for relationships with teaching assistants, April 16 – Michael Edmund Ewert had his teaching certificate suspended for four months after relationships with three teaching assistants. He was the principal of Colleen and Gordie Howe middle school at the time.
10. Charges laid in gas station fatal stabbing in Abbotsford, Feb. 23 – The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team announced that Thavone Junior Carlson, 20, had been charged with second-degree murder in the death of Trevor Johnson, 34, who was stabbed during a fight at the Petro-Canada gas station at Townline and Maclure.
