Motorcycle stolen from Courtenay home

Comox Valley RCMP report, week ending Aug. 20

  • Aug. 21, 2018 12:00 a.m.

Overnight on Aug. 12, a motorcycle was stolen from a residence on the 400-block of 13th Street in Courtenay. The motorcycle had BC licence plate PB562G attached and is described as a red 2016 Polaris Slingshot.(2018-11347)

Hot cat rescued

On Aug. 9, the Comox Valley RCMP were called to downtown Courtenay where a passer-by had located a cat in distress. The cat was inside a parked vehicle with the windows up. The SPCA attended and seized the cat. (2018-11186)

Crash on Bates Road

On Aug. 12, a vehicle crashed into a parked pickup truck on Bates Road in Courtenay. When police arrived, the driver was still at the scene. The investigator found that the driver had consumed alcohol before driving. A 90-day immediate roadside prohibition was served, several violation tickets were issued and the vehicle was impounded for 30 days. (2018-11323)

Recovered ladder

At approximately 12:30 a.m. on Aug. 20, suspect(s) broke into a business located on the 900-block of McPhee Avenue in Courtenay. The only item stolen was a 28-foot extension ladder which was later recovered at another business on the 900-block of 8th Street in Courtenay. The ladder was returned to the owner. The Comox Valley RCMP Crime Reduction Unit and the Integrated Forensic Identification Section are assisting with this investigation. (2018-11777)

Mischief to coin-operated vacuums

Since Aug. 1, there have been seven reports of suspect(s) vandalizing the coin-operated vacuums at a local car wash. The local business has been making efforts to ensure security and there is video footage of the suspect(s) – it has not always been the same people committing the crimes. The Comox Valley RCMP are asking the public to call police in the event they see any suspicious activity at coin operated vacuums here locally; especially late at night or in the early morning.
