The Colwood Crawl has been moving even slower than normal after an early morning multiple-vehicle crash on the Trans-Canada Highway backed up traffic for about an hour.
At 6:50 a.m. West Shore RCMP, B.C. Ambulance and View Royal Fire Rescue were called to the southbound lane of the highway near Portage Inlet, just past the Helmcken Rd. overpass.
RCMP spokesperson Sarah Beckett said a commercial semi-trailer truck rear ended a dump truck and then three other vehicles somehow became involved. Beckett had no further details at this time on the cause of the accident.
There were no injuries in the accident and B.C. Ambulance was called off en route. Two tow trucks did attend the scene and two vehicles were towed. The driver of the semi truck was ticketed for following too close.
By 7:50 a.m. the accident had been cleared and the highway fully reopened, but traffic remained backed up throughout the morning.
