Murder victim had gang links, police say

Shaun Alan Clary has been identified as the murder victim found in rural Langley.

The body left dismembered by the side of Robertson Crescent Wednesday morning has been identified.

Shaun Alan Clary, 27, was found just after 7 a.m.

Clary’s death was a targeted murder, and he is believed to have gang associations, said Cpl. Meghan Foster, a spokesperson for the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team.

Foster said it would be premature to definitively link the killing to heightened tensions between local gang associates.

Foster said that IHIT cannot confirm that Clary’s death is linked to other recent killings or attacks.

In recent weeks, a Hells Angels member was killed in Langley, and another man linked to gang activity was shot and wounded in Burnaby.

Police have arrested and charged Jason Francis Wallace in the death earlier this month of Robert Keith Green. Green was a longtime Hells Angel, while Wallace was known to be affiliated with the Aldergrove-based 856 Gang.

Clary’s gang affiliations were not disclosed.

However, he had a court record, having been charged with assault with a weapon in 2011 in Surrey. He was convicted of a lesser charge.

IHIT is still canvassing the area around the scene.

Police believe that Clary was killed elsewhere and his remains left on Robertson Crescent.

Anyone with information on Clary’s life or the circumstances leading to his murder are being encouraged to call the IHIT tipline at 1-877-551-IHIT (4448), or by email at ihittipline@rcmp-grc.gc.ca.
