Nanaimo bike theft suspects caught on camera

NANAIMO - Mounties asking for public’s help to identify suspects of theft and attempted break-in.

The Nanaimo RCMP hopes the public can help identify several suspects involved two unrelated incidents captured by security cameras at central Nanaimo apartment buildings.

One incident happened at 10:30 p.m. Sunday at 1633 Dufferin Crescent. The suspects in jimmied the front door to the apartment building then tried to gain access to a secure storage locker. They left after being confronted by the apartment building manager.

Sometime on Friday  suspects gained access to a secure bike storage area at 1820 Summerhill Pl. and made off with three bikes, including a 5-speed Gary Fisher with an orange ribbon, a 5-speed KHS bearing a “Live to Surf” sticker and a Kona Kula mountain bike.

Police have identified one of the two males from Summerhill Place incident, a suspect shown wearing a black hat in images accompanying this article is currently unknown.
