Highland dancers from Nanaimo are some of the best in Canada.
Nanaimo’s Brigadoon Dance Academy had three athletes compete in Moncton, N.B., earlier this month at the ScotDance Canada Championships and all three had top-three finishes.
Annalise Lam, in the 14-year-old age group, finished as second runner-up in the open championship, with a second place in the Highland fling, second in the sword dance and third in the reel.
Gabrielle Colonna, in the 19-20-year-old age group, finished as third runner-up overall, with her best result a third place in the Seann Triubhas.
Miranda Lam competed in the 15-year-old age group and earned third place in the fling.
The dancers train in Nanaimo with Brigadoon’s Diena Henry.
