Nanaimo man arrested for pointing firearm

NANAIMO – Man arrested after pointing firearm at two people.

A 33-year-old Nanaimo man is in police custody for allegedly pointing a firearm at two individuals early Saturday morning.

According to Nanaimo police, responded at about 9 a.m. Saturday after receiving a report  a man had pointed a firearm at two people, about three hours earlier, at home in south Nanaimo.

Investigators learned the suspect was travelling through Nanaimo’s north end and managed to pull over the vehicle, near the Island Highway and Mallard Way in north Lantzville. They arrested the man without incident, but did not find a firearm in the vehicle.

Officers then searched a home on Woodhouse Road in south Nanaimo where they found and seized a firearm.

The suspect was held in custody and was schedule to appear in Nanaimo provincial court Monday to face recommended firearms offences.
