Central Saanich Police have arrested an 81-year-old Nanaimo man in relation to a number of historical sexual assaults that took place in Central Saanich between 1975 and 1986.
The man is identified as Geradus Wihelmus Peters. He lived in Central Saanich from 1960 to 1998 and has been charged with one count of indecent assault and four counts of sexual assault involving four females.
Corporal Dan Cottingham with Central Saanich Police said the four females are now living outside of the Victoria area.
Police are concerned there may be other victims of Peters and hopes they are able to come forward.
“The Central Saanich Police Service has worked diligently on this investigation despite the challenge of the length of time since the offences occurred. We continue to support the victims who have had to re-live the memories of these assaults,” said Deputy Chief Derren Lench in a media release.
Peters appeared in court last week and was released on an undertaking with some conditions including no contact with the victims along with not being alone with anyone under 18 years of age.
