Nanaimo police seek tips to help solve crimes

Nanaimo RCMP have a number of unsolved files they hope the public can help solve. Anyone with information on the following crimes is asked to call Nanaimo RCMP at 250-754-2345, Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or www.nanaimocrimestoppers.com.

No. 2013-16719 On July 1, a swimming pool located in the 2000 block of Duggan Road was  vandalized. Unknown persons walked into the yard and slashed the side of it causing all the water to drain out. Several kids saw two unknown persons leaving the yard and saying, “run.”

No. 2013-16957 On July 3, a Toyota Corolla parked on Mcdonald Road at the Nanaimo River was broken into. The theft occurred sometime between 12:30-4 p.m. and two wallets, a purse and a set of keys were taken. The thieves later put all of the stolen items except the cash into a nearby mailbox.

No. 2013-17033 On July 4 at approximately 10 a.m., a shed in the 300 block of Machleary Street was broken into. The only item taken was a 3,000 psi Karcher pressure washer.

No. 2013-16965 On July 4, a shed at the German Cultural Centre on Caledonia Avenue was broken into. The lock was broken off and a bicycle and a Honda self-propelled lawn mower were taken.

No. 2013-17168 On July 5, a suitcase was stolen from the wooded area near the Departure Bay ferry terminal. The owner missed the last ferry of the night and stashed his suitcase under a tree for the evening. The suitcase is black with wheels and contained clothing and had the name tag ‘Doucet.’

No. 2013-17296 On July 6 a shed on Frew Road was broken into and a 2007 Suzuki motocycle with no plates was taken.

No. 2013-17430 On July 7 between 4-9:30 p.m., a home located in the 900 block of Milton Street was broken into. Point of entry was the front door. The only item taken was a blue Acer laptop.
