The execution of a search warrant Monday yielded Nanaimo RCMP a cache of drugs and an estimated $12,000 of stolen property.
Following the report of a break-and-enter and theft of a TV by a 94-year-old Nanaimo resident Sunday afternoon, a person of interest was identified, said Nanaimo RCMP.
A warrant was issued and executed for a Hecate Street address, and as a result, the resident’s TV was recovered, along with other TVs, a laptop computer, Blu-ray players and a high-end mountain bike. Investigators estimate the total amount of property recovered is $12,000.
Additionally, street drugs heroin and GHB, cash, and drug trafficking paraphernalia were also confiscated.
Four adults were taken into custody, including Kerry Chang, 47, who was remanded into custody on charges of possession of stolen property and possession for the purposes of trafficking GHB.
He is expected to appear in Nanaimo provincial court Friday (Aug. 21).
A 46-year-old female and two males in their late-20s were released and will appear in court at a later date.
